We had a GrEaT Thanksgiving weekend (minus missing family way too much!!!!!)
We started our long weekend by going to Dublin Down. It is an Irish Pub that we can walk to and have become locals at :) It was nice to relax because the short weeks always seem longer than the regular ones. Why is that?
Thanksgiving Day we slept in and hung out...then the Football started!! We of course watched the Lions sadly lose :( We headed to the Outlet Mall at 10pm when it opened....I was in the market for a new pair of sunglasses ;)
I had to work half a day on Friday and while I was there Scott got to relax and have some Scott time watching the Redwings. Once I got home we went on the hunt for a couch!!! Yes, a couch....before we moved we sold A LOT of our stuff on Craig's List and our couch was one of those things. We have been sitting on the adirondack chairs Scott built for me and our butts have been hurting so it was time to upgrade. After searching a few places we found a nice leather loveseat that fits perfect in the Apt.
Saturday was spent in our pj's and having our Thanksgiving!!! We made Turkey, stuffing, and sweet potatoes. We also spent the day watching Football - MI vs Ohio and Clemson vs South Carolina.
Thanksgiving was a little hard this year....there were tears...laughs...tears....smiles...and tears. It was very nice to have a long weekend and a few days off of work and not have to travel BUT it was sad not being with family.
Christmas is right around the corner and I am soooo EXCITED!!!!! I have been calling Scott the Grinch (hahaha) because I really wanted to decorate and listen to x-mas music this weekend but he said it was still Thanksgiving. I might have to sneak somethings while he is not looking :)

Time Flies
I know it has been almost a year since the last blog...can I use "we have been really busy" as an excuse????
Things have finally settled down and I am ready to share what has happened in the last year of our lives. 2011 was a difficult and fast year for us but its almost over and I am so ready to see what 2012 has for us.
I think a list is going to be the best way to go with filling everyone in from Nov 2010 - Nov 2011:
Dec 2010
We have really come to like Charleston!! There seems to be a something going on all the time here and a lot of outside activities. We live on Daniel Island - we are able to walk and ride our bikes to most places.
We have dove into the community by going to several minor league soccer (The Battery) and baseball (Riverdogs) games. We also went to the Home Grown Concert, which was a weekend music festival with Darius Rucker. We recently went camping at a local state park.
Scott and I are excited to continue to explore the new place that we are living. I can't believe we have already been here for 6 months. I am also ready for 2011 to be over and to close this year of stress.
Through all the tears and all the "everything happens for a reason" in the past few months I truly believe moving to Charleston was the right thing for our little family to do and maybe one day we will find out what the reason is.
There wasn't a day that went by when we lived in Orlando that I didn't miss our Michigan Families and Friends....now there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss our Families and Friends in both Michigan and Orlando.

Dec 2010
- We had a friends Christmas in Orlando. Many of our friends in Orlando decided to stay there for the holiday and we all celebrated together.
- We headed to the Bahamas for New Years and Brian and Jade's wedding!! We had so much fun with family and friends. It was a great way to bring in the New Year!!
- We found out that Scott's office in Orlando would be closing (and the "fun" was about to begin). I still remember Scott calling me at work telling me they were shutting the Orlando office in May.
- Scott had a work meeting in Milwaukee which I got to tag along with to visit our good friends Tre and Sarah. It took some convincing for me to go and fight the cold....haha.
- Our beautiful First Home went up for sale. Thinking about that day still makes my heart sink.
- 2 weeks later we received two offers on the house...picked one...and was in contract to sell. (can we say bitter sweet) This by far was the biggest stress lifted off our shoulders. Before this day we had played every situation out....do we rent the house and keep it as an asset?....do I stay in Orlando and work until it sells while Scott moves?....do we just stay in Orlando and cross our fingers that Scott gets a job?
- The first weekend we drove up to Charleston to find an APT and a place to live. After looking at about 15 different places we finally chose a great APT on Daniel Island. After looking at the first 10 places on Friday I had a breakdown and decided I didn't want to move anymore because I really wasn't sold on Charleston. It was one of the first times I really realized this was going to happen....we were really moving....
- The movers came on Wedn April 27th and Thurs April 28th. Our last night in the house was in the living room on an air mattress - just like our first night in the house. All I could think was how ironic is this?
- We SOLD/closed on the house Friday April 29th. I will never forget that day....walking round Our First Home saying good bye. This was the home we planned on living in for years...this was the home we planned on having a family in....this was the place we were making our own and really called it HOME. Naturally I left in tears and thinking why did this have to happen to us....
- After closing on the house I went into work and put in my 2 weeks and Scott headed to Charleston....talk about an emotional day.
- I got to stay my last 2 weeks in Orlando with a friend, Claire. I said bye to friends and coworks and was on my way to Charleston....our new home.
- We headed to Michigan for Memorial Day for Crystal and Brian's wedding!!! It was a MUCH needed trip to see familiar faces and family after all that had gone on. Scott stayed for the long weekend and I stayed for a week.
- The job hunt started.....again......
- We headed to Ohio for a long weekend because Scott's grandpa passed away.
- We drove to Michigan for a nice 10 day vacation!!! We were there for 4th of July, Brian and Jade's reception and just to hang out with friends and family. It was so nice to go back when there was no hustle and bustle of the holidays (which is when we would normally go back for that long). We were able to to really sit, relax and enjoy hanging out with many people. On our drive back we stopped and got to see Andrew play baseball (which is always fun!!!!)
- When we got back from Michigan it was time to really start exploring Charleston and unpacking the "tiny" APT.
- Scott's parents came to visit us for Labor Day weekend. We did a whole bunch of "tourist" stuff and loved it!!
- Scott traveled to Idaho for 2 weeks for work.
- My Aunt Alice and Uncle Terry were vacationing in Hilton Head and came to Charleston for a Saturday. It was so nice to see them and show them where we live.
- I got a temporary job and am really like it. Keep all fingers crossed that it becomes permanent.
