Christmas is in the Air

It's a few days late but Sunday Scott and I had a great day full of Christmas. We set up our tree and the few other decorations we have. We decided we need a lot more and will purchase them after Christmas. Haha....I know a little late BUT on sale :) Here are some pictures of our apt...

A bit of a Charlie Brown tree :(

Along with decorating our apt we went to Epcot to see the Christmas lights. We decided that we are going to go to every park to see their decorations. We have 3 more to go...we will see if we really get to them :)

Epcot didn't have as much as we were thinking. Some Christmas lights, decorated Mickey and Minney and a few other things. Scott did get his first taste of Gluvine; which is a hot German wine. I really like it and drank a bit of it when I was in Germany but Scott is still deciding if he likes it.

We have picked out our Christmas card and are getting ready to send them. I am soooo excited for this and have been talking about this for the past few months. It was actually one of the things I was excited to get married for (and many more)...haha.

Christmas is very much in the air at the Baker house. The one odd thing we have both decided is there is no snow. Don't get me wrong we don't miss it at all but it is a different feeling not having it. We are actually having record highs right now with temps in the low/mid 80s.

Hope everyone up north is enjoying the cold/snow weather....we are always open for visitors :)

Thanksgiving and More

We have had a busy but fun few days. It was Thanksgiving weekend and Scott's cousin, Kyle's wedding.

We were up at 2 AM on Thanksgiving to catch our 6:30 AM flight. Scott's parents met us at the Detroit airport and we all drove to Columbus for a Thanksgiving feast. As usual we both ate too much and loved it!!! We spent the day at Scott's Uncle Mark's house eating, watching football, and laughing.

Friday we decided NOT to go shopping...

We did however wake up early (again) and went to help set up for the wedding reception. After that the girls went and got mani/pedi and the boys took naps. The rehearsal was Friday evening which we got to attend. Scott even had some responsibility...he got to stand in for a groomsman that was not able to make it. Here is a picture of us at the rehearsal dinner.

Saturday was the wedding. The day turned out to be wonderful. The weather turned out to be great too. We were a little nervous since it was freezing on Friday (I debated going to get a new dress for the wedding that would be warmer). I got Scott on the dance floor which is always a treat, specially since he says married guys don't dance...haha :)

A little blurry but here is us at the church on Saturday.

Sunday came sooner than we thought :( We did get a treat though because we got to meet up with my parents for lunch before we headed to the airport :)

Security in Detroit was a bit nuts and they actually made us check one of our bags. Apparently it was too big for the overhead compartment...even though we flew down with it up there. Not only did the lady say we had to check it she then followed it up by walkie-talking the desk to make sure we really did it. Got to love traveling over the holidays!

We got home around 11:45 PM and went straight to bed.

We had a great time over Thanksgiving. We got to spent time with family which is always fun! Too bad the time always goes by too fast.

It is still odd to me to say we now vacation to MI and that we come home to FL.

The Christmas decorations are going up tonight. I am really excited and have a feeling we are going to have a list of things we need to purchase...considering we really only have a tree and A LOT of ornaments :) Decorating might go a lot quicker than I want.

Disney Marathon (3 times this week)

The bathroom is DONE!!!!! The guy came on Wedn to finish up the tile and then came back on Friday to put the facet on and finalize it. We will get to use it Tuesday for good!

Thursday I decided to change a few things so I got me hair chopped off and got rid of the blonde.

Scott and I got to spend some more time with Aunt Alisa and Lucas on Friday. I met them at Downtown Disney and had lunch with them and Aunt Alisa's Mom and Dad. We (AA, L, and I) headed to Epcot for the evening and Scott came after work. We enjoyed Soarin' and the Test Track. This was the first time we really got to enjoy the rides at Epcot because the past times we went we checked out the worlds part of the park.

Saturday and Sunday we got some stuff done and hung around the apt.

It was a really nice weekend. I have a feeling this week is going to fly by. Scott is in the field, working nights at Disney, and off Friday. I work 3 days this week as well. Thanksgiving is going to be here before we know it :) Which means Vacation/Ohio is coming fast :)

Scott found a picture from my birthday he wanted to share. It is the chocolate dessert he made for me!

Busy...Busy...Busy...

We have had a lot going on the past few days...

We started the weekend off by going to Red Light Red Light with some friends. Red Light Red Light is one of Scott's favorite places because they serve micro brews from all over the world and have a lot of choices. It is a little place but is always a fun time.

Saturday we had a pot luck BBQ with our soccer team. Our team took this season off because we were going to miss a few people for several games but last season we did WIN the Championship!! So since we won and took some time off we decided to get together. It was a great time and great to see everyone. Our next season starts after the 1st of the year and by the looks of it everyone is ready to get back on the field.

Saturday evening we were lucky enough to have some more guests! My aunt and cousin flew down on Saturday and are staying the week to hang out with Mickey. We got to pick them up from the airport and have them stay with us one night. Scott took Lucas swimming Saturday night and Sunday we took them to their condo and went to lunch. I then met up with them on Monday at Animal Kingdom. I had a blast riding the Yeti ride with Lucas :)

Scott also took me out to dinner for my birthday on Sunday. We went to a local restaurant where we both had shrimp.

Scott is heading to Miami for the night today. He will be diving to make sure a few buoys are safe.

Our bathroom is half way done!!! We had a leaky shower and am getting whole new one. The guy started on Friday and was suppose to come back today. With a little miss communication he will not be here to finish today :( This whole shower thing has been a real pain.

Birthday and First Day

Monday was

Kym's 26th Birthday!!!

It was a great day...hung out and relaxed during the day. We went to Epcot when Scott got home from work. Scott made me dessert when we got home and we are going to dinner on Sunday. He is taking me to a restaurant with a shrimp boil that we have been wanting to try.

Kind of odd to think I am going to be 30 in 4 years though...haha!

Yesterday was my first day of work at William Sonoma. It was good and went by really fast.

Scott has been in the field this week but lucky for him it has been cooler...high 70s low 80s. It has been a great week so far :)

HaLlOwEeN

We can start off by saying it was 85 degrees out and Scott was happy he didn't have to incorporate a winter coat with his costume. We ended up coming up with some last minute costumes because we had a fun/busy week before. Scott was in the field and had to take a business trip to Ft. Lauderdale (Thurs - Fri) and Kym's parents were in town (Sat - Thurs).

We had a great time with Kym's parents. The weather was wonderful! We got to show them around our new home and the city we have come to call home. They came down for a conference Kym's dad had to go to during the week so Kym and her mom did some bumming around and shopping. Dad did find his new favorite restaurant while he was here :) Of course like every family get together we ate too much and laughed a lot. We can't wait for XMas to see them again plus Andrew!

Now for the Halloween festivities....

Saturday we ran around town figuring out what to be for the night. Kym decided to be a hippy and Scott decided on an atomic wedgy. We then headed downtown with some friends. Which to our surprise was a mad house. They shut down half of downtown to cars and people just hung out in the streets. We had never seen a sight like this. Scott estimated there to be about 100,000 people out in the streets. It is suppose to be the biggest party Orlando has.

Monday is Kym's birthday so we will be heading to Disney when Scott gets off work!

Luv,
Kym and Scott

Kym got a JOB!!!

I can't believe it took me this look to blog about it...

I got a JOB!!!! I am going to be working at William Sonoma for the holiday season. I am super excited to have a job. I went in on Monday to fill out paper work and my first day is going to be next Friday, October 30th. I am not sure how many hours or all the details of what I will be doing though.

Scott worked an odd schedule this week...Monday and Tues in the field doing signs...Tues and Wedn night at Disney diving. Poor guy has to go into work at 11:30 PM and got home this morning at 8:00 AM (he is sleeping right now). He does have Thurs and Friday off though to get back to normal schedule. His dives at Disney this week are the docks that the ferry to the Magic Kindom uses.

The weather is absolutley wonderful right now. No humdity and in the high 70s to mid 80s. I am really loving FL (minus the missing friends and family).

My mom and dad are coming to visit on Sat through Thurs so we are excited to spend time with them :)

Where are the Colorful Leaves??

Leaves aren't changing colors...leaves aren't falling off trees...no hoodies...no pumpkin patches...

Florida "fall" is way different than Michigan that is for sure. We have had record heat with temps around 93 the past week. We have hit 100 with the heat index a few of those days. Yes it may be hot and fall but we can't really complain because we are still swimming :) It is however a different feeling not walking out into the crisp Michigan air this time of year.

We really haven't been up to much these days. Friday we went to the Orlando Brewery because they have an Oktoberfest beer out. We have really come to like the Orlando Brewery...maybe because it gives us the Bells vibe without all the hippies.

Saturday I watched football while Scott kept his eyes on the computer for soccer updates. I think Scott might need to go to rehab for his addiction...haha :) I did get a good laugh when ESPN would update the score before the computer and Scott would yell at the computer for being slow.

Sunday was relaxing and non-eventful....we went and saw Couples Retreat. We both really liked it and laughed a lot.

Scott's Birthday!

Yesterday was:

Scott's 25th Birthday!!!!

Scott had to work but we had a great evening together. We went to Epcot! Disney has buttons for guests to wear when they are celebrating something (birthday, first visit, wedding, engagement...). These are the ones we got:

And of course Scott asked several times to take his off but I wouldn't let him :) I chuckled ever time a Disney worker said Happy Birthday to him. We are pretty sure they are required to do this because every time he turned around someone was saying it to him. haha!

We went on two rides and decided that Soarin' was really cool. You sit in a hang-clyder type seat and fly through California. It is one of the rides where you sit still and the screen moves which makes you feel like you are moving. Also when you go through different areas you get to smell the different smells...example...you fly through Napa Valley and all you smell is grapes.

Epcot also has their Wine and Food Festival going on right now. It is a festival that goes on from Sept through Nov and they offer different wines and foods from all over the world. They also have several show type demos, tastings, and extras going on. We didn't get to see any demos but we did take time to walk around the different worlds.

We are both really excited to be able to spend the day at Epcot and really get to see what the park has to offer. Our trip yesterday was just a few hours and we really didn't get to explore the whole park.

When we got home we ate Scott's birthday cake. He asked for an ice cream cake this year. So, with all the spare time I have I made him one. It was really nice being with Scott this year for his birthday and he had a great day!!

It's Been Awhile

I came to realize we have not blogged in a few days/weeks. I guess you can tell how exciting we have been and how little adventures we have gone on.

The Orlando Baker's have really not been up to much these days...Scott has been studying A LOT for his FE test that is coming up in a month. His week days consist of going to work, studying at lunch, eating dinner and then studying till about 10 every night. Saturday and Sunday on the other hand consist of studying from 10/11 AM till about 10/11 PM. He has recently found a library close to our apt that he is adventuring to (by himself) for the first time today after work. Let's all cross our fingers he/we get through the next month and he passes this 8 hour exam. I am pretty sure he is going to do great :)

I on the other hand have been trying to get over a sinus infection (which I thought was just allergies). I have had it now for about 3/4 weeks and have been to the doc twice. The first appt was pretty interesting I received my first butt shot (or I at least don't remember getting one before). The nurse laughed at me because I told her it was the best place to get a shot because it had the most fat. The second appt was a little better....this time I got a tube/camera up my nose to see how clogged it was. Lucky for me the doc had the screen right in front of me and was pointing out everything up there. Needless to say I am feeling better everyday :)

This past weekend we went to dinner for Scott's birthday (which is really tomorrow). Orlando has this really cool thing called Magic Dinning during September. Some of the nice restaurants in the area make a menu consisting of an appetizer, entree, and desert that costs $20 or $30. Scott decided to try J. Alexanders. It was to die for and we both were stuffed by the time we were done. Of course we brought the left overs home.

Tomorrow for Scott's birthday we are going to go to Epcot when he gets off work. In 2009 Disney is letting people in free to any park on your birthday. Well since we have annual passes Scott will receive a gift card for the price it costs to get into the park - $79.00. Epcot is also the last of the 4 parks we have not gone to so we are really excited to check it out.

There is a little update on what is going on here. Oh yeah it is still hot and humid :)

You Play Dirty

Let's start this blog off talking about soccer...We won our game on Thurs which means we are now in the semifinals and could potentially have 2 games this Thurs. It was a close game going into over time and then penalty kicks. Scott of course won the game for us with the last kick!!!

After the game in the car we like to analyze play by play and Scott tries to give me tips. Most of the time I try to argue back and tell him I know more about soccer than he does...hahaha! It's actually quite funny since he really thinks he is David Beckham sometimes. But after this game all he could tell me was "You play dirty and you are a forwards worst enemy." (I play defense - it has the least amount of running) I did have to agree with him because in the first minute I kicked a guy in the shin. I then proceeded to throw a few elbows and kick another guy. You have to get the ball somehow and we won. All I could say is I didn't let any goals in so I did something right!

The rest of the weekend was quite relaxing. Friday we just hung out around the apt and made dinner together. Mexican Friday seems to be the theme for us the past few weeks.

Saturday we went to Animal Kingdom. It was WAY better than I thought it was going to be. It rained most of the day and the kids are back in school so the park was quite empty. We went on the African Safari and Everest (roller coaster) twice. Everest might just be the best roller coaster for any of the Disney parks (so far). We got home just in time to watch the second half of the MI vs. ND game. Hail Hail to the victors (Scott's add to the post). We then went out with some friends for a few drinks at night.

Today has been nice and lazy. My allergies have really been bothering me and my head feels like it is 50 lbs. Scott has been studying hard for his test.

Another week ahead of us...Scott working and Kym looking for work...

Labor Day Weekend...

It was a nice three day weekend for Scott (Kym has everyday off....still). Really though it was nice to have a long weekend to go and explore Florida.

We started the weekend with a nice quiet night at home on Friday. Hung by the pool and made a Mexican dinner.

Saturday we headed to St. Petersburg for the Rays vs. Tigers game. Unfortunately the Beach Boys were in town and the game was sold out. They were having a free concert after the game and the Tampa people went crazy. So, we went to a sports bar in St. Petes to watch the WMU vs. UofM game....lets not talk about that game. It was so sad we only watched the first half and couldn't handle it anymore.

It ended up being a wonderful day even though the Broncos lost and we didn't get to see the Tigers. We spent the day walking around St. Petes. St. Petes is right on the water so we took in the pier and all the docked boats. We also had a great dinner at a New Orleans style restaurant.

Sunday we went to New Symera Beach with our friend Claire for the day. Scott was excited because he got to drive the car on the beach! We packed lunch, beach chairs, and the logs (Scott's surf boards) and came home UNburnt. The waves were good for some buggy boarding but not big enough to surf.

***Fact: New Symera is the #1 spot for Shark bites in the world***

Today (Monday) we didn't really do much. Scott has been studying hard for his upcoming test so he spent some time with the books. Later in the day we went to Adam and Brigitte's for dinner. Spent time catching up and hanging with the boys.

The weather was great and the weekend went by way too fast. We had fun spending the long weekend together and Scott only has 4 days of work this week!!!!

O'Doherty Wedding

We have had a busy past few days....

We started this adventure by taking our first married couple airplane ride!

As you can tell Scott was really excited to be flying with his wife.

We had a great weekend with friends and family back in Michigan for Cody and Pete's wedding. It was great to just relax and not have to worry about talking to everyone. It is a totally different experience when you are not the ones getting married. As many of you know Scott had a little too much to drink and made friends with the toilet Sunday morning. We are pretty sure he learned his lesson...hopefully anyways!

The weekend was WAY to short and went by WAY too fast. It was also nice to get away from the 100 degree Florida weather for a few days. We can't wait to see everyone again.

After the wonderful weekend in Michigan Scott's mom and Mrs. Hengesbaugh came to visit. They were Monday through Thursday. We went to the beach and the Magic Kingdom. We all ate a feast in the old west and the Disney's fireworks display is just as good with it is raining out.

Working Nights

We have had a bit of a different week so far. Scott worked nights this week because they were doing field work at Disney. Disney will only let them work at night because they do not want the guests to see the workers. So...he has been going in at 10 PM and getting home around 4 AM. It has been really nice seeing him during the day :)

We have also taken advantage of him being home during the day (and our Disney passes). Tuesday we decided to pack a backpack and go to Hollywood Disney. We went for a few hours and saw a few shows. It was nice to be able to go there later in the day and only for a few hours. We didn't even see everything but that is ok because "we can always go back" as Scott says.

We also decided that August in FL is NOT the best month. The weather and heat were not bad June and July but August is another story. It has been over 100 the past few days and the humidity is just horrible. Needless to say we can't wait to get a heat break next weekend :)

We are looking forward to our vacation next week (that is odd that we vacation to MI now)!!!

Nuts and Bolts.....We Got Screwed

Where do we start.....

The weekend started off VERY sour. The cash of "classics" took a turn for the worst and we have the Mountaineer back :( Sad but true :( The dealer did not put the customer first (to say the least)! The dealer told us our cash for clunker was good to go when we bought the car and a week later when they couldn't get their money from the government gave us the ultimatum - bring it back and negotiate OR have it repossessed. We took it back, said "screw you" and have the old boy back. Friday night was not a happy night in the Baker household.

Still furious about the situation we have come to realize things happen for a reason and maybe one day we will realize why we were not meant to have the Patriot. We for sure will NOT be purchasing our next car from that dealership and we will do everything in our power to have no one else purchase from there. They lost a sale and a good customer!

After all that we were looking forward to a nice Saturday and Sunday at the beach with friends. We headed to Melbourne Saturday morning to soak up some good weather (it was about 95 and NO rain). A group of our friends rented rooms at a hotel but we decided to save money and get a camp site near by (We all know Kym is not much of a camper so when she volunteered this Scott jumped to the opportunity). The day was great - Scott caught some waves on his surfboard while getting burnt and Kym worked on her tan a little more. The group went to Meamaw's for some wonderful B-B-Q.

Then it got interesting...camping in FL in August...we should have thought twice about that one! Haha! Well everyone went to the hotel and we told them we would see them tomorrow at the beach. We got to the site and crashed - we were pretty exhausted from the day. Then 2 AM rolled around and we were both wide awake sweating (car read 85 at 4 AM), itching, burnt, and getting eating alive. So we laid there and laid there and at about 4 AM decided we both had enough of the sweat and bugs and drove home. Needless to say we didn't see our friends at the beach on Sunday.

Here we are Sunday afternoon exhausted and realizing the things we have learned in the past few days!

The Office: Bomb Episode

When arriving back to work on Friday Scott was not allowed back into the parking lot due to an explosive that was thrown at a US costumes office right next to Collins Engineers. Here is the news article.

http://www.wftv.com/orangecounty/20241723/detail.html

After some time waiting around the police allowed everyone to get in their cars and leave. Just another exciting day working by the Orange Blossom Trail.

Didn't do much this weekend besides laying by the pool and working on the tan. The Jeep is working out great and we are still excited about the deal we got. We are going on a road trip next weekend to Melbourne beach so we will see how it works on the open road.

Surfs Up,

Its a Jeep thing......

Well it is official the Mountaineer is heading to get smashed because we took advantage of the cash for clunkers deal and got a new 2009 Jeep Patriot Limited. It is silver with black interior. We are very excited and got a great deal thanks to Kym's Dad and Scott's "classic" i.e. "Clunker". Here is a picture and there will be more to come when the rain stops and we can get good shots of the Jeep off-roading.

****This Jeep Patriot is no longer associated with the Baker household****

Disney!!!

Hi everyone!

This weekend was quite the adventure....car shopping and Disney!!!!

We will start with car shopping. Scott has recently renamed Cash for Clunkers to Cash for Classics because he is sad :( to see the Mountaineer go! Kym on the other hand is saying thanks for the free money!!!! We went looking on Friday and have made a final decision on a ..... Jeep Patriot. Now it is just finding the right one (which may be harder than we think). Let's all keep our fingers crossed that we will be blogging tomorrow about a brand NEW Patriot.

Now for the fun stuff...DISNEY!!!!! We started the day off by purchasing Annual Passes for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. We are ready for ALL visitors now :)

We both had a great time hanging out with Mickey and his friends at the Magic Kingdom. We got to the park before it opened and left when it closed (Kym was really excited to get there). We are also proud to say we were the FIRST people on the Haunted Mansion ride :)

Our favorite rides were: Splash Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

Scott was quite disappointed there were NO Robin Hood rides or souvenirs. Kym was surprised that the character's do not just walk around the park anymore...they have designated autograph stations. Which means we did NOT see Mickey besides in the show and parade :(

Of course we had a wonderful time at the Lights Parade and the fireworks, which were one of the best shows we have seen.

Until next time...

Cheers
Scott and Kym

Cockroaches ....

Oh cockroaches how I do not like thy. For some reason we have seen WAY more of them lately. We got home from soccer last night (whole other story) and saw at least 3 of them. They just come out of know where. They really don't bug me and I just kill them (or tell Scott to kill them)...it is more that they jump out at you.

So, we were trying to figure out why all of a sudden we are seeing more of them....well come to find out I left the sugar out from my morning coffee and there were some dishes in the sink (which we normally do right away to prevent this). AND they haven't sprayed for bugs lately. Needless to say they will be spraying in the next few days and I don't think I will be using sugar anymore!

The pool...
The pool that is 10 feet from the apt has been closed for the past week. We were thinking since a lot of people have been moving out of the complex they closed it for good because of finances OR a kid pooped in it again (no that kid wasn't me)! So I called to see what was going on because as Scott says "we are paying for 2 pools." They said it will be open soon...they just don't know when. There is another pool in the front of the complex but it is always WAY more crowded.

Soccer...
Yesterday was my second game. I once again realized why I don't like soccer....BORING!!!! Chasing after a ball kind of makes you feel like a dog. I think the first game was fun because it was the first time playing in like 10 years and it was something new.

Disney is tomorrow and I can not wait!!! Poor Scott is going to be taking a 7 year old to see Mickey...haha :) It is suppose to be 94 tomorrow with 30% chance of rain so it is going to be a GREAT day to go!

Love
Kym

First Blog

Friends and Family

This is the start of our new adventure together...ok driving down to FL was the first adventure but this will still be fun. We figured since we are not able to talk to all of you daily or on a regular basis this would be the best way for you do see and hear what we are up to.

Other than the every day things here are a few adventures we have gone on together:

Our first married adventure was driving 19 hours from MI to Orlando. This drive was A LOT better than our first drive when Scott moved down here. We had great conversation, laughs, and it was great being together. The car was packed to say the least and we were more than excited to be up at 4 in the morning. Driving recommendations is DO NOT ever drive through GA it is the longest state ever!!

The second weekend we were down here together Scott planned a minimoon (a.k.a halfmoon) for us to go on. We went to Hutchinson Island which is about an hour and a half south of Cocoa Beach. We had a great time laying on the beach and eating seafood. Our favorite place to eat was Conchy Joes.

We also have had our first visitors has a married couple. Kym's cousin Katie and her boyfriend Nick spent a few days with us. We decided that Seaworld Sucks!!! because it took us an hour and a half to get to car enterance :( Needless to say we decided to turn around and lay by the pool. We took Nick to see Mickey at downtown Disney...He was really excited :) It was great to see them and spend time together.

This past weekend was not so exciting because Kym was working to finish her MBA. She finished Sunday and is now waiting for final grades and feedback. Scott is happy that the past year and a half is over and Kym is not doing homework and complaining about school anymore. He is even taking her to Disney on Sat. to celebrate :)

Scott also convinced Kym to play soccer with him. So, last Thursday was her first soccer game (everyone laugh). We will leave it at that.....haha :) She had fun and it is another fun thing they get to do together!

This is only the start of our adventures being married and starting our family. We will keep everyone updated as things happen.

Love,
Scott and Kym
